In Engineering Change Management, readiness checks can be performed before an item is put into use within the individual company, but the list of available checks is rather short. In Axcite Product Lifecycle Management, this list is significantly expanded with a range of additional, practical checks that ensure maximum quality in your master data.

Shared product data

Within Engineering Change Management, items are readied for release to external organizations, after which each organization generally maintains the item independently. Axcite Product Lifecycle Management enables ongoing synchronization of modifications to each item among these organizations following its release. This approach streamlines data maintenance considerably.

Advanced product information

Axcite Product Lifecycle Management offers a range of advanced item information that is critical for other departments:

• Fast/Medium/Slow/Not moving categorises your items based on the number of picks in the warehouse, so you can always ensure that the fastest-moving items are available at the best locations. This is a fundamental requirement in any efficiently managed warehouse.
   
• XYZ divides your items according to the deviation in consumption over time (volatility). X-items are very stable, while Z-items are highly unstable. This categorisation is crucial for selecting the most effective inventory planning for each item.
   
• Months on hand indicates how many months’ worth of consumption you have in stock. It is an effective indicator of whether the item is over- or understocked.
   
• Consumption per month, last outbound date, and last inbound date are pieces of information that help you assess your items in relation to possible changes in lifecycle stage.

The information is calculated through periodic runs, so it always reflects the current value for each item, and is brought together in a new function from which you can easily change the stage of many items at once.

Updating the product’s lifecycle status

The module features the “Company values” function, which is closely linked to the product’s lifecycle. The product’s lifecycle determines which processes an item can undergo, while company values expand on this by automatically updating the item’s master data when its lifecycle status changes. This functionality is particularly valuable during the phase-out and discontinuation stages of an item, as the module can systematically deactivate routes and bills of materials, eliminate minimum stock levels and forecasts, and perform related tasks.
